Tucked away in the southern parts of an attractively wide bay, Fethiye is a very old town with several old buildings. An earthquake in 1958 destroyed it, leaving only the tombs from when Fethiye was called Telmessos (400 BC). An incredibly cozy place despite its size, it is often visited at the beginning or end of a gulet cruise. Fethiye's inner bay is an excellent natural harbor protected from storms by an island.
